You Can’t Hide the App Library on an iPhone, but Here’s What You Can Do
The iOS 14 update brought a lot of new features to iPhones, one of which is the App Library. It’s a welcome addition for those who like to keep their home screens organized, but not everyone is a fan. Some users have expressed their desire to hide the App Library, but unfortunately, Apple doesn’t provide that option.
But fear not, there are a few things you can do to make the App Library less intrusive if you’re not using it.
Option one is to move all your apps to the App Library so you can eliminate home screens altogether. To do this, just long-press on any app icon and select “Remove App.” Then choose “Move to App Library.” This will move the app to the App Library without deleting it from your phone. Once you’ve done this with all your apps, you can delete all your home screens by tapping and holding on the screen until the app icons start wiggling. Tap the minus sign at the top left corner of each screen until they’re gone. This way, when you swipe right from your main home screen, you’ll see only the App Library.
Option two is to delete unwanted app categories from the App Library. By default, the App Library groups your apps into categories like “Utility,” “Creativity,” and “Entertainment.” If you don’t want to see these categories, you can remove them. To do this, long-press on any app icon in the App Library, and select “Edit Home Screen.” Then, remove the unwanted categories by tapping on the minus sign at the top left corner of each icon. You can also rearrange the order of the categories by dragging them up or down.
Option three is to hide the App Library as much as possible. You can do this by disabling Siri Suggestions, which is the feature that suggests apps based on your usage. To do this, go to Settings > Siri & Search and toggle off “Suggestions in App Library.” This way, you won’t see Siri Suggestions in the App Library, and it will be less distracting.
