Xbox Game Bar Not Working? Try These Troubleshooting Tips for Windows 10
Xbox Game Bar is a great feature that allows Windows 10 users to capture, record, and share game clips and screenshots. It also includes widgets for instant access to music, social media, and more. However, some users have reported that their Xbox Game Bar is not working properly, or not working at all. If you are facing similar issues, try these troubleshooting tips to fix Xbox Game Bar on your Windows 10 device.
- Update Windows 10
Ensure that your Windows 10 is updated to the latest version. Often, the updates include fixes for issues with Xbox Game Bar. To check for updates, go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates.
- Check Xbox Game Bar settings
Verify that Xbox Game Bar settings are properly configured and enabled. Press Win + G to open the Xbox Game Bar, then click on the Settings icon (gear icon) in the top right corner of the screen. Check if the options such as ‘Record game clips and screenshots using Xbox Game Bar’ and ‘Remember this as a game’ are turned on.
- Restart the Game Bar process
Sometimes, Xbox Game Bar can stop working due to a problem with its background processes. You can restart the process by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager. Locate the ‘Microsoft Game Bar’ process under the Processes tab, right-click on it, and select End task. Then, open the Xbox Game Bar again to see if the issue is resolved.
- Disable third-party overlays
Third-party overlays such as Discord or Steam can interfere with Xbox Game Bar. Disable any overlays that you have running before launching the game.
- Update graphics drivers
Make sure that your graphics drivers are updated to the latest version. You can check for updates on the manufacturer’s website or using third-party tools such as Driver Booster.
- Repair Xbox app
If none of the above solutions work, try repairing the Xbox app. Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features, find ‘Xbox’ in the list, click on it, and select ‘Advanced options’. Then, click on the ‘Repair’ button.
- Reinstall Xbox app
As a last resort, you can try to uninstall and reinstall the Xbox app. Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features, find ‘Xbox’ in the list, click on it, and select ‘Uninstall’. Then, download and install the app again from the Microsoft Store.
