What Is Audible and How Does It Work?
Audible is an audiobook platform owned by Amazon that allows members to buy, stream or download audiobooks. The platform also offers a wide selection of spoken-word content including podcasts, original content, and newspapers along with magazines. Audible was created years ago letting the customers listen to their favorite books while doing something else.
To get started using Audible, sign up for an account. After that, you may get a free 30-day trial or subscribe to the service for either $14.95 per month or $149.50 per year. Once you’re signed up, you will have access to over 180,000 audiobooks and other content that can be downloaded or streamed from the Audible library. There are a range of genres available on Audible, including fiction, nonfiction, and self-help. They also have books in foreign languages.
Once you’ve signed up for a membership with Audible, you have the option to stream audiobooks on the platform without downloading them, or you can download the audiobook which will then let you listen even when you don’t have an internet connection. If you’re an Apple iPhone or iPad user, you could use the Audible app to stream or download audiobooks, while Android users can simply download the app from the Play Store.
Audible app is easy to use and has some useful features. For example, if you start listening to a book on your smartphone and switch to an Alexa-enabled device like Amazon Echo, you can continue listening to it on another device without losing your place.
Audible also helps listeners to explore new Audiobooks. Audible suggestions are as simple as “listeners that enjoyed this book also listened to” other books by the same author, or same-genre books. You can also get recommendations by checking out the curated playlists, ranging from “Great First Listens” to “Best Crime Series” or create your own playlist.
