Ways to Fix the Arrow Keys Not Working in Excel
As an avid Excel user, you rely heavily on the arrow keys to navigate through cells and columns. However, it can be frustrating when your arrow keys suddenly stop working. If you are experiencing this issue, fear not! There are a few ways to fix the arrow keys not working in Excel problem.
1. Check if Scroll Lock is on
One of the most common reasons why the arrow keys may not be working in Excel is due to the Scroll Lock being on.
To turn it off, press the Scroll Lock key on your keyboard. On some keyboards, you may need to press the Function (Fn) key in combination with the Scroll Lock key.
2. Check for Num Lock
Another possible reason why the arrow keys may not be working is due to the Num Lock being turned off. Enable it by pressing the Num Lock key on your keyboard.
3. Restart Excel
If the above solutions did not work, try restarting Excel. Close all Excel files and restart the application. This may help fix any glitches or issues that may be causing the arrow keys not to work.
4. Check your keyboard
It is possible that your keyboard is the root cause of the issue. Try plugging in a different keyboard to see if the arrow keys work on that one. If they do, then it was your keyboard causing the problem.
5. Update Drivers
Sometimes, outdated or corrupted driver files can lead to issues with keyboard function. In this case, you may need to update your drivers. To do so, go to device manager and locate your keyboard. Right-click on it and select “Update Drivers”.
6. Check your computer for malware
Sometimes, malware or viruses can cause keyboard functionality issues. Run a scan with your anti-virus software and check if there are any viruses on your system. If so, remove them.
7. Repair Excel
If none of the above solutions worked, try repairing Excel. Go to the “Control Panel” and select “Programs and Features”. Find the Microsoft Office or Excel application and select “Repair”.
