Ways to Check Your Installed RAM and Available RAM Slots on Windows
Random Access Memory (RAM) is a vital component in any computer system, as it directly affects the performance of your computer. RAM allows your computer to access and store data temporarily, which makes it faster and more efficient. Whenever you add new programs or open multiple tabs in your browser, your computer requires more RAM to run smoothly, and you need to ensure that you have the right amount of RAM to prevent your computer from slowing down or crashing.
If you want to know how much RAM you have installed on your Windows computer and the available RAM slots, then follow these simple methods:
Method 1: Check the System Properties
Step 1: Press the Windows key + Pause Break key, or right-click on This PC and select Properties in the Start menu.
Step 2: The System Properties window will open. Here you can see your computer’s Processor, Installed Memory (RAM), and System type (32-bit/64-bit).
Method 2: Check the Task Manager
Task Manager provides real-time insight into how much RAM is being used in your computer. You can also see which applications or processes are using the most RAM so that you can take appropriate action.
Step 1: Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager.
Step 2: Click on the Performance tab at the top of the window.
Step 3: Under the Memory section, you can see how much RAM is installed on your computer, as well as how much is being used.
Method 3: Check the Hardware Information in the BIOS
The Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) provides information about the hardware installed on your computer. If you want to know more detailed information about your installed RAM and the available RAM slots, you can check your BIOS settings.
Step 1: Turn off your computer and then turn it back on.
Step 2: Press the key repeatedly after the computer starts up to enter the BIOS settings.
