Trump hasn’t contacted the family of his supporter who died during the assassination attempt, his wife told the New York Post
In a shocking revelation, the wife of a Trump supporter who died after being shot during the 2016 Las Vegas concert massacre has revealed that the President has not reached out to the family to offer condolences or support.
The tragic incident occurred on October 1, 2017, when Stephen Paddock opened fire on the crowd at the Route 91 Harvest music festival, killing 58 people and injuring hundreds more. One of the victims, a 35-year-old woman named Sonny Melton, was a big supporter of President Donald Trump and had even attended his rally in Alabama just weeks before the attack.
Speaking to the New York Post, Sonny’s wife, Heather Gooze, expressed her disappointment and frustration that Trump has not reached out to the family to offer his condolences. “We’re very disappointed that we haven’t heard from the President or his family,” she said in an interview. “We’ve left messages and asked for them to reach out, but we haven’t heard anything.”
Gooze, a nurse, said that she and her husband had been looking forward to attending the music festival together as a date night. “Sonny was a huge Trump supporter, and we loved his rallies. We even went to his rally in Alabama just a few weeks before the shooting. He was so passionate about his support for the President,” she said.
The couple’s daughter, Lily, was just 11 years old at the time of the attack and was devastated by her father’s death. “My daughter was devastated, and we’re still trying to come to terms with everything,” Gooze said.
Gooze expressed her disappointment that Trump has not taken the time to acknowledge the family’s loss, despite his public statements of condolences to other families affected by the attack. “We understand that the President has a lot of people to reach out to, but our son was a huge supporter of his, and we would have appreciated a phone call or a letter to acknowledge his loss,” she said.
The lack of contact from Trump has not been the only difficulty the family has faced in the aftermath of the attack. Gooze said that the family has also struggled to get help and support from the government, citing delays in receiving assistance from the Department of Veterans Affairs and other government agencies.
The family’s story has sparked outrage and criticism on social media, with many calling out Trump’s lack of empathy and support for the family. The incident has also highlighted the broader issue of the Trump administration’s response to tragic events and its handling of the aftermath of the Las Vegas massacre.
As the family continues to struggle to come to terms with their loss, they can only hope that one day, they will receive the recognition and support they deserve from the President they believed in so deeply.
