Spike in Walking Pneumonia Cases Among Children
UNC Hospitals reported a significant increase in walking pneumonia cases among children in the last week of October 2024. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had warned about a rise in mycoplasma pneumoniae infections, which are causing the spike. The outbreak is particularly affecting children aged 10 to 17, and parents are advised to be vigilant about symptoms such as cough, fever, and sore throat.
