How to Water Lock Your Apple Watch to Protect It
Water Lock is an important feature on the Apple Watch that protects it from water damage when engaged in activities like swimming or showering. This innovative feature locks the screen to prevent accidental touches and expels water from the speakers afterward. Here’s how to water lock your Apple Watch.
Firstly, start by accessing the Control Center on your Apple Watch – this can be done by swiping up on the watch face. Once you’re in the Control Center, look for the Water Lock icon, which resembles a droplet of water. Tap on this icon, and Water Lock will be enabled. A blue water droplet icon will appear at the top of your watch face, indicating that Water Lock is active.
Now, your Apple Watch screen is locked and won’t respond to random touches during your water-based activities. After finishing these activities and you want to unlock the screen and eject any water from the speaker, simply turn the Digital Crown on the side of your watch until you feel your watch vibrate and begin making noises. This vibration and sound are part of a process that ejects water trapped inside the speaker grilles.
Remember always to activate Water Lock before immersing your Apple Watch in water to ensure its longevity and functionality. It’s also worth noting that while the Apple Watch is designed to be water-resistant, it’s not indestructible, so take good care of it around water regardless of whether you use Water Lock or not.
