How to Use Your Mac’s Display Calibrator Assistant
If you own a Mac, it’s important to calibrate your display to ensure that the screen colors, brightness and contrast are accurate. This process is easier than you might think thanks to the Mac’s Display Calibrator Assistant, a tool provided by Apple that helps you make the necessary adjustments to your screen.
Before you begin, you should know that calibrating your Mac’s display isn’t a one-time task. You should recalibrate your screen every few months or whenever you make a major change to your computer setup, like adding an external monitor.
To get started, follow these steps:
1. Open the Display Calibrator Assistant
Go to Apple menu > System Preferences > Displays. Then click on the Color tab. From there, click on the Calibrate button to launch the Display Calibrator Assistant.
2. Choose a calibration mode
The assistant will appear with two options: Easy and Expert. If you’re new to calibration, the Easy option will be the best way to get started. If you’re more experienced or want to make advanced adjustments, you can use the Expert option.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions
If you choose the Easy option, you’ll be guided through a series of on-screen instructions to make adjustments to your screen’s color, contrast, and brightness. Follow the prompts and make adjustments until the screen looks optimal to you.
If you choose the Expert option, you’ll see several sliders to help you adjust various aspects of your screen’s calibration, such as brightness, gamma, and white point. You’ll also be able to fine-tune the color accuracy of your display.
4. Save your calibration profile
Once you’re happy with your calibration settings, save your profile. You can either use the default name or create a custom name that helps you identify your calibration settings.
5. Apply your profile
After you’ve saved your calibration profile, you can apply it to your Mac’s display. Go back to the Color tab in your Display settings and select the new profile you just created from the list of available display profiles.
Calibrating your Mac’s display is an easy process that can make a significant difference in your experience using your computer. Remember to recalibrate your screen every few months to ensure that your colors remain accurate over time.
