How to Use the Read Aloud Feature in Microsoft Word
Microsoft Word is a powerful word processing tool that allows users to create professional documents using various features. One of these features is the Read Aloud option, which can be used to read out the content of a document to the user. The Read Aloud feature is beneficial for many people, especially those with visual impairments, dyslexia, and other learning difficulties. In this article, we will discuss how to use the Read Aloud Feature in Microsoft Word.
Step 1: Open Microsoft Word
The first step to using the Read Aloud feature in Microsoft Word is to open a document in Word. This can be an existing document or a new document that you create.
Step 2: Select the Text
The Read Aloud feature can read any text that you select in the document. To select the text you want to hear read, simply click and drag over the text with your mouse. Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+A to select all the text in the document.
Step 3: Press the “Read Aloud” Button
Once you have selected the text, go to the “Review” tab located at the top of the Word document. In the “Review” tab, you will see the “Read Aloud” button. Click on this button to activate the feature, and the text you selected will start to be read out by the computer.
Step 4: Control the Reading Speed
By default, the Read Aloud feature reads at a moderate speed. However, you can adjust the reading speed to suit your preferences. To control the reading speed, you can use the “+” and “-” buttons that appear next to the Read Aloud button. The “+” button increases the reading speed, while the “-” button decreases it. You can keep adjusting the reading speed until it suits your needs.
Step 5: Pause the Reading
If you want to pause the reading temporarily, you can click on the “Pause” button that is located next to the “Read Aloud” button. This will immediately stop the reading. If you want to resume the reading, click on the “Play” button that replaces the “Pause” button.
Step 6: End the Reading
When you are done with reading the selected text, you can click on the “Read Aloud” button once again to stop the reading. This will end the Read Aloud feature
