How to Turn Off Roku: 9 Steps
Roku devices are known for their ease of use, but sometimes you might want or need to turn off your Roku device. Whether it’s for energy-saving purposes or to simply disconnect from the world of streaming, here are nine steps on how to power off your Roku device.
1. Locate Power Button
First, locate the physical power button on your Roku TV or streaming device. For Roku TVs, the button is typically located on the rear or side panel. For standalone streaming devices like Roku Express and Roku Premiere, there is no physical power button.
2. Press Power Button
If you have a Roku TV with a power button, press and hold it until the TV powers down.
3. Use Remote Control
For those without a power button, use your Roku remote control. Press and hold the Home button for several seconds until the menu appears.
4. Navigate Menu
Once the menu is on-screen, navigate to “Settings”.
5. Access System
From the “Settings” menu, select “System”.
6. Find Power Settings
Under the “System” category, find and select “Power”.
7. Choose Power Options
Within “Power”, you’ll see multiple options including “Auto power off”, “System restart”, and “Fast TV start”. To turn off your Roku completely, choose “System restart”.
8. Confirm Restart
Confirm that you’d like your device to restart. Please note that selecting this option will shut down your Roku while it restarts before powering back up automatically.
9. Unplug Device (Optional)
If you want to ensure that your Roku is completely powered off and won’t restart automatically (or if you’re using a standalone streaming device), you can unplug it from its power source after following the previous steps.
Now that you know how to turn off your Roku device in these nine simple steps, you can rest assured that your streaming device is no longer using power or connected to the internet when it’s not in use.
