How to Thread Hair: 13 Steps
1. Gather your materials – To thread hair, you will need a spool of threading thread, a pair of scissors, rubbing alcohol, cotton balls, and talcum powder.
2. Sterilize the tools – Before you start, make sure to clean your hands and use rubbing alcohol on the scissors to disinfect them.
3. Cut the thread – Cut about 24 inches of thread from the spool.
4. Tie a knot – Tie the two ends of the thread together to form a loop.
5. Twist the thread – Hold the loop with both hands and twist it 8-10 times to create a spiral in the middle section of the loop.
6. Prepare your skin – Cleanse the area where you wish to remove hair using a cotton ball dipped in rubbing alcohol, then apply talcum powder to absorb any moisture.
7. Choose your starting point – Select an area where you want to begin threading.
8. Position the thread – Place one hand on either side of the twisted section, with fingers spaced apart inside the loops. Position the twisted part of the thread against your skin with hairs being caught in it.
9. Remove hair with threading technique – Open one hand’s fingers while simultaneously closing those on another hand; this motion will move the twisted part across your skin in a controlled manner, catching and plucking hairs as it goes.
10. Repeat until desired hair removal is achieved – Continue threading by repeating step 9 as many times as needed until you’ve removed all unwanted hair from that area.
11. Soothe your skin – After threading is completed, gently cleanse and pat dry your skin again using a cotton ball dipped in rubbing alcohol or witch hazel to minimize any irritation and redness.
12. Apply an ice pack or aloe gel – If there is significant redness or inflammation following hair removal, you can apply an ice pack or aloe vera gel to soothe your skin.
13. Master the technique – With practice, you will become even more skilled at threading and be able to remove unwanted hair quickly and efficiently in the comfort of your home.
