How to Set Up and Customize the Screen Saver on Your Mac
If you’ve owned a Mac for any length of time, you’ve probably seen the screen saver that appears when your computer is idle for a certain amount of time. Screen savers come built-in with your Mac, but did you know that you can customize them to your liking? It’s a great way to give your computer a personal touch, and it’s easy to do. Here’s how you can set up and customize the screen saver on your Mac.
Step 1: Choose a Screen Saver
The first step is to choose a screen saver that you like. To do this, click on the Apple icon in the upper-left corner of your computer screen and select “System Preferences.” From there, click on “Desktop & Screen Saver.” You’ll see a list of screen savers on the left side of the window. To preview a screen saver, simply click on it.
Step 2: Set the Screen Saver Time
You’ll notice that there’s a drop-down menu at the bottom of the screen that allows you to set the time for the screen saver to start. You can choose anywhere from 1 minute to 3 hours. Pick the amount of time that works best for you.
Step 3: Customize the Screen Saver
Once you’ve chosen a screen saver and set the time, you can customize it to your liking. Click on the “Screen Saver Options” button to see the available settings. Depending on the screen saver you choose, you may be able to adjust the speed, colors, or other settings.
Step 4: Change the Screen Saver Location
By default, the screen saver appears on the monitor that’s set as the primary display. If you have multiple monitors, you can change which monitor the screen saver appears on. Click on the “Display” tab and select the monitor you want to use for the screen saver.
Step 5: Preview Your Screen Saver
Once you’ve made all of your changes, click “Preview” to see how your screen saver looks. You can make additional changes and preview it again until you’re satisfied.
Step 6: Save Your Changes
When you’re happy with your screen saver, click “Save” to apply your changes.
