How to remove shipping calculated at checkout shopify
If you’re running an online store using Shopify, you might want to tweak your shipping settings to offer a more seamless experience for your customers. One aspect of this is removing the shipping calculated at checkout option. Although this feature provides a clear cost breakdown before placing an order, some merchants prefer to simplify the process to encourage smoother transactions.
In this article, we’ll walk you through the steps on how to remove shipping calculated at checkout on Shopify.
1. Log in to your Shopify admin panel
First, navigate to your Shopify account and log in. Once you’re logged in, you’ll be directed to your administrator dashboard.
2. Head over to ‘Settings’
At the bottom left corner of your dashboard, click on the ‘Settings’ tab. This will lead you to the settings menu where you can manage various aspects of your store.
3. Select ‘Shipping and delivery’
In the settings menu, locate and click on ‘Shipping and delivery.’ You’ll be redirected to the shipping and delivery settings page where you can adjust various options related to shipping.
4. Access your current shipping zones
Within the shipping and delivery settings, scroll down until you find the section named ‘Shipping Zones.’ Here, locate the zone whose calculated rate you’d like to remove and click on ‘Edit.’
5. Remove calculated rates
Once inside the shipping zone details page, scroll down until you see a section named ‘Calculated Rates.’ You’ll find a list of all available real-time carrier rates for this particular zone. Locate desired carrier rate service and click on the trash bin icon next to it for removal.
6. Add alternative shipping rates
To replace removed calculated rates, scroll down until you find a section called ‘Add a rate’ within your shipping zone details page. Click on ‘+Add Rate.’ A pop-up will appear asking for input in creating a new custom rate or selecting a pre-configured Shopify shipping rate. Complete the required information by entering a name, price, and weight limit (optional) or selecting from predetermined lists provided by Shopify. To finalize your new rate, click on ‘Add Rate.’
7. Save your changes
Once you’ve successfully removed the calculated rate and added an alternative shipping rate, make sure to save your adjustments. Click on the ‘Save’ button at the top or bottom of the shipping zone details page.
After completing these steps, your customers will no longer see shipping calculated at checkout for the modified zone. Instead, they will be charged based on the new fixed rates you’ve set up. Not only will this simplify their purchasing experience but it may also encourage more sales as customers are presented with standardized shipping fees rather than fluctuating costs.
Keep in mind that it’s essential to provide reasonable shipping rates that cover your expenses while maintaining competitiveness. Regularly review and adjust your rates in response to customer feedback and market shifts to ensure your pricing remains fair and sustainable for both you and your clients.
