How to Move or Rearrange Apps on iPhone
Moving or rearranging apps on your iPhone is a simple process that can help you customize your home screen to suit your preferences or to make it more efficient to use. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do it.
Step 1: Unlock Your iPhone
Begin by unlocking your iPhone so that you can access the home screen where all your apps are displayed.
Step 2: Enter Jiggle Mode
Press and hold down on any app icon until all icons start to shake or “jiggle.” This is commonly referred to as “jiggle mode.” On iPhones with 3D Touch, be careful not to press too hard, or you will open the Quick Actions menu instead.
Step 3: Move Your Apps
While in jiggle mode, you can move apps by dragging them with your finger. To relocate an app, tap and hold it slightly, then drag it to the desired location. You can drag an app to another spot on the same page, to the dock at the bottom of the screen (which is visible across all pages), or to a different page (you can drag it towards the edge of the screen to move it onto a new page).
Step 4: Create Folders
If you want to organize your apps into folders, drag one app onto another similar app. The iPhone will automatically create a folder containing both apps. You can then enter the folder and rename it by tapping the text field above the apps.
Step 5: Exit Jiggle Mode
Once you’ve finished rearranging your apps, press the “Done” button on an iPhone with Face ID, or press the Home button on an iPhone with a Home button. This will save your new arrangement and return the icons to their normal state.
Step 6: Reset Layout (Optional)
If at any point you want to reset your home screen to its original layout, you can do so by going to “Settings,” selecting “General,” then “Reset,” and finally tapping “Reset Home Screen Layout.”
Following these easy steps will allow you to personalize and organize your iPhone’s home screen efficiently. Rearranging apps is just one way of ensuring that your most frequently used apps are always within easy reach.
