How to Message Yourself on WhatsApp, Discord, and More
Messaging yourself on various platforms like WhatsApp, Discord, and others can be surprisingly useful. It allows you to save links, notes, or reminders in a space where they’re easy to find, especially if you’re already using these messaging apps regularly.
On WhatsApp:
WhatsApp introduced a feature called “Message Yourself.” To use it:
1. Open WhatsApp on your device.
2. You’ll see a contact list displaying your phone number labeled as “Message Yourself.”
3. Tap on it to open the chat window.
4. Start typing and sending messages to yourself as you would do in any other chat.
If you don’t see this feature, ensure you have the latest version of the app installed.
On Discord:
In Discord, there isn’t a dedicated feature for messaging yourself, but you can use a server or create your own personal server to serve as a private note-taking space.
1. Open Discord.
2. Create a new server by clicking the plus icon on the left sidebar.
3. Name it something like “Personal Notes” or “My Messages.”
4. Once inside your server, you can start messaging in any text channel.
Remember that others can’t see your messages unless invited to your server.
On Telegram:
Telegram makes it simple with a feature appropriately named “Saved Messages.”
1. Open Telegram.
2. In the chats list, tap on “Saved Messages.”
3. This chat is essentially between you and yourself; anything you send here can only be seen by you.
On Slack:
Slack also allows users to message themselves.
1. Open Slack.
2. Click on your profile at the top of the left sidebar to open a direct message with yourself.
3. Use this space just like any other Slack conversation for notes or reminders.
On Skype:
Sending messages to yourself is not explicitly supported by Skype, but you can still use recent conversations or create Notes:
1. Open Skype.
2. Use any ongoing conversation (preferably with less traffic) to jot down things for yourself.
Additionally, other instant messaging apps may allow for similar functionalities either through updates or workarounds such as creating private channels or groups where only one member (you) is present.
In conclusion, whether it’s saving quick notes, links you want to return to later, or important messages that need standing out, knowing how to message yourself on communication apps like WhatsApp, Discord, Telegram, Slack, and more can be very beneficial for keeping important information at hand without cluttering other note-taking apps or devices’ native solutions.
