Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients
To make chicken stir fry, you’ll need:
– Boneless, skinless chicken breasts (1 per serving)
– Vegetables of your choice (examples: bell pepper, onion, broccoli, carrots)
– Cooking oil (any kind, but sesame or vegetable oil works great)
– Minced garlic
– Stir fry sauce (store-bought or homemade)
– Soy sauce
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Cooked rice or noodles (to serve with stir fry)
Step 2: Prepare the Chicken
Thinly slice the boneless, skinless chicken breasts and set aside. This will ensure even cooking and a short cooking time.
Step 3: Wash and Cut Vegetables
Wash all the vegetables thoroughly. Slice bell peppers, onions, and any other vegetables you’re using into even-sized pieces.
Step 4: Make Stir Fry Sauce (Optional)
If you prefer not to use a store-bought sauce, you can make your own by mixing soy sauce, honey or brown sugar, cornstarch, ginger, and any other seasonings of your choice. Set aside.
Step 5: Heat the Pan
Heat a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat.
Step 6: Add Cooking Oil
Once the pan is hot enough, add about 1 tablespoon of cooking oil.
Step 7: Cook the Chicken
Add the sliced chicken into the hot pan in a single layer. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until nicely browned. Remove from pan and set aside on a plate.
Step 8: Add More Oil to the Pan if Necessary
The pan may need more oil at this point. If so, add another tablespoon of oil to the pan.
Step 9: Add Minced Garlic
Add minced garlic to the heated oil in the pan and cook for about 30 seconds.
Step 10: Cook the Vegetables
Add all the sliced vegetables to the pan and stir fry for 5-7 minutes or until they are tender-crisp.
Step 11: Return Chicken to Pan
Add the cooked chicken back to the pan with the vegetables.
Step 12: Add Sauce
Add your desired stir fry sauce (store-bought or homemade) to the pan, and mix well to coat the chicken and vegetables.
Step 13: Season with Soy Sauce, Salt, and Pepper
Drizzle some soy sauce over the stir fry and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 14: Simmer for a Few Minutes
Allow the chicken stir fry to simmer for a few minutes, so all flavors can meld together.
Step 15: Serve
Serve your delicious chicken stir fry over cooked rice or noodles as soon as it has finished cooking. Enjoy your flavorful and healthy meal!.
