How to Make a Ringtone on iTunes
With smartphones being an indispensable part of our lives, personalizing every aspect of them has become crucial, including the ringtones. Having a unique ringtone can make your phone stand out in a crowd, and the good news is you can create one using your favorite song on iTunes. This article will walk you through the process of making a ringtone on iTunes in detail.
1. Get Started:
First, ensure you have the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer. If not, download and install it from Apple’s official website.
2. Choose Your Song:
Choose a song from your music library that you would like to convert into a ringtone. Keep in mind that ideal ringtone length should be around 30 seconds.
3. Create a New AAC Version:
Right-click on the chosen song and select “Song Info” (For Mac) or “Get Info” (For Windows) from the drop-down menu. Navigate to the Options tab and set your preferred start and stop times for the ringtone, ensuring that it is no longer than 30 seconds. Click OK to save these changes. Now right-click on the same song again and choose “Create AAC Version.” iTunes will create a new file with your specified time range.
4. Locate the New File:
Once the new AAC version has been created, right-click on it and choose “Show in Finder” (For Macs) or “Show in Windows Explorer” (For Windows). A folder containing the new audio file will open up.
5. Change File Extension:
Rename the new audio file by changing its extension from “.m4a” to “.m4r.” Confirm any warning about file extension change that appears.
6. Add the Ringtone to iTunes:
Delete the newly created AAC version from your iTunes library by right-clicking on it and selecting “Delete from Library.” Don’t worry; this will not delete the original song or the file you just renamed. Now drag and drop the “.m4r” file from the Finder or Explorer window back into your iTunes library.
7. Sync your iPhone:
Connect your iPhone to your computer and sync it to transfer the new ringtone to your device. The new ringtone should now appear in the “Tones” section of your iPhone’s settings.
8. Set Your New Ringtone:
Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Ringtone on your iPhone, find the new custom ringtone, and select it to set it as your default ringtone.
Now that you know how to make a ringtone on iTunes, you can create unique ringtones using your favorite songs and enjoy a personalized experience on your iPhone. Have fun experimenting with different tunes and impressing others with your creativity!
