How to Make a Duct Tape Wallet
A duct tape wallet is a fun, creative, and inexpensive way to keep your money and cards organized. With just a few basic materials and some patience, you can create a unique and stylish wallet that is sure to impress. Follow these simple steps to make your own duct tape wallet.
Materials:
– Duct tape (various colors or patterns)
– Scissors
– Ruler
– Pen or pencil
Step 1: Prepare the Base of the Wallet
1. Cut four pieces of duct tape, each measuring 8 inches long.
2. Lay one strip of duct tape sticky-side up on your work surface.
3. Carefully place another strip of duct tape halfway over the first strip, with their sticky sides facing each other.
4. Flip the taped-together strips over and repeat steps 2 and 3 with the remaining two strips of duct tape.
5. Trim any uneven edges using your scissors.
Step 2: Create Card Pockets
1. Cut four more pieces of duct tape, each measuring 4 inches long.
2. Lay one strip sticky-side up and place another strip halfway over it, sticky sides together, as in step 1.
3. Repeat with the other two strips.
4. Cut both double-strips in half lengthwise so that you have four card pocket pieces.
Step 3: Attach Card Pockets to Wallet Base
1. Position one card pocket piece on the base so that its top edge aligns with the bottom edge of the base.
2. Cut a small piece of duct tape (approximately 1 inch), and attach the bottom corners of the card pocket piece to the base with this small piece.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to attach all four card pocket pieces on top of each other, leaving about an inch between each one for easy access to cards.
Step 4: Add a Bill Pocket
1. Cut two more pieces of duct tape, each measuring 8 inches long.
2. Place one piece directly above the card pockets, aligning its bottom edge with the top edge of the highest card pocket.
3. Place the other piece sticky-side up, aligning its bottom edge with the top edge of the wallet base.
4. Press the two pieces together, sandwiching the tops of your highest card pocket between them.
Step 5: Fold and Seal the Wallet
1. Fold your wallet base in half along its length so that both ends meet for a bi-fold design.
2. Cut two pieces of duct tape, each measuring 3 inches long.
3. Seal both open sides of the wallet by attaching those strips, wrapping half of each strip around each side.
Congratulations! You now have a functional and stylish duct tape wallet to store your money and cards. Feel free to experiment with different colors and patterns of duct tape to create a truly unique design that reflects your personality. Happy crafting!
