How to Hide Your Steam Activity
With the vast collection of games and gaming communities on Steam, it’s natural to want to keep some of your activity private. Maybe you’re reviewing a game that you don’t want friends to know about or are actively playing a game that you don’t want to reveal yet. Whatever the case may be, there are several ways to hide your Steam activity from others. In this article, we’ll show you how to do just that.
1. Change your privacy settings
The first step to hiding your Steam activity is to protect your profile using the correct privacy settings. Go to your profile page and click on the “Edit Profile” button in the top right corner. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen, where you will find the Privacy Settings section. Here, you can choose who can see your profile and activity.
To ensure complete privacy, select “Private” from the drop-down menu. This will prevent anyone from seeing your activity and profile, but you can still add friends and communicate with them through Steam chat.
2. Use offline mode
Another way to hide your Steam activity is to go into offline mode. This will prevent Steam from tracking what you’re doing and showing it on your profile. To activate offline mode, click on the “Friends & Chat” tab in Steam and select “Offline” from the drop-down menu.
Just remember that you won’t be able to access any of Steam’s features that require internet connection while in offline mode, so be sure to activate it only when necessary.
3. Hide specific games
If you don’t want your friends to see that you’re playing a particular game, you can hide it from your activity feed. Go to your profile page, click on the “Edit Profile” button, and navigate the “My Game Settings” section. Here, you can select the games you want to hide from your activity feed by ticking the corresponding checkbox.
4. Use family view
If you share your Steam account with family members or friends, but want to keep your activity private from them, you can use the family view feature. This allows you to restrict access to your account and only show content that is appropriate for all ages.
To activate family view, go to your Steam settings and click on “Family View” in the “Account” section. You’ll then need to set up a PIN which will be used to unlock family view.
