How to Fix Your Windows 10 Touchscreen Not Working
Having a touchscreen can be a convenient feature when using a Windows 10 computer, but it can be frustrating if it suddenly stops working. If you are experiencing issues with your touchscreen, don’t worry, as there are several simple steps you can take to try and fix it.
Step 1: Restart Your Computer
The first step in fixing your touchscreen is simply restarting your computer. This may seem too easy, but a simple restart can fix a variety of issues, including problems with the touchscreen. Once your computer has restarted, check to see if the touchscreen is working properly.
Step 2: Check the Touchscreen Settings
If restarting your computer did not fix the issue, the next step is to check the touchscreen settings. To do this, go to the Start menu and select Settings. Next, click on Devices, then select Touchpad, and finally click on Additional Settings. In the Touchpad settings window, make sure that the Touchpad is enabled and that the settings are set correctly for your preferences.
Step 3: Update Touchscreen Drivers
If the previous steps did not work, it may be necessary to update your touchscreen drivers. To do this, go to the Start menu and type “Device Manager” in the search bar. Once Device Manager opens, find the section labeled “Human Interface Devices” and click on the arrow to expand the section. Look for your touchscreen device, right-click on it and select “Update Driver.” Follow the prompts to update the driver and restart your computer.
Step 4: Delete and Reinstall Touchscreen Drivers
If updating the drivers did not work, you may need to delete the drivers and then reinstall them. To do this, follow the same steps as in Step 3 but instead of updating the driver, select “Uninstall Device.” Once the driver has been uninstalled, restart your computer. Your computer will automatically reinstall the drivers the next time you start it up.
Step 5: Check for Malware
If your touchscreen is still not working, it’s possible that a malware infection is causing the problem. Run a malware scan on your computer using anti-malware software such as Malwarebytes. If a malware infection is found, follow the prompts to remove it and then restart your computer.
