How to Fix the Discord Game Detection Feature Not Working on Windows
Discord is a popular platform that allows us to communicate with friends and colleagues through voice, text, and video messages. It also offers a game detection feature that helps us to connect and share gaming activities with our friends.
However, there are times when this game detection feature does not work on Windows. It can be annoying and frustrating, especially for gaming enthusiasts who want to connect with their friends while playing games. In this article, we will discuss how to fix the Discord game detection feature not working on Windows.
1. Check for Discord Updates
The first thing you need to do is check if Discord has an available update. Discord offers regular updates to fix bugs, glitches, and errors. To update Discord, click on the “Settings” icon on the bottom left corner of the Discord window, then click on “Update Now” under the “Install or Update” tab.
2. Restart the Game and Discord
If updating Discord does not solve the issue, try restarting both the game and Discord. Sometimes, the game detection feature will not work if Discord is not running in the background while the game is running, or if the game is not launched after opening Discord.
Make sure that you have launched the game after opening Discord and try restarting both the game and Discord before attempting to connect the game to Discord again.
3. Check Game Activity Status
Sometimes, the game detection feature may not work if the game activity is set to “Not Playing” or if the game is not supported by Discord. To check the game activity status, click on the “Settings” icon on the bottom left corner of the Discord window, then click on “Game Activity” under the “Activity Status” tab.
Make sure to set the game activity status to “Playing” if it is not already set. Also, check if the game you are playing is supported by Discord. If it is not, then Discord will not be able to detect the game.
4. Check Game Detection Settings
If the game detection feature is still not working, check the game detection settings in Discord. Click on the “Settings” icon on the bottom left corner of the Discord window, then click on “Game Activity” under the “Activity Status” tab. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and check if the “Enable Game Detection” option is turned on.
If it is turned off, turn it on, and try connecting the game to Discord again. Also, make sure to check the “Automatically detect games running on this device” option under the “Settings” tab of Discord. This option allows Discord to automatically detect all games running on your device and connect them to Discord.
5. Check Antivirus Settings
Sometimes, the game detection feature may not work if your antivirus software is blocking Discord from accessing your device’s resources. To check if your antivirus is causing the issue, temporarily disable it and check if the game detection feature works.
If it works, then add Discord to your antivirus exception list. This will allow Discord to access your device’s resources without any hindrance from your antivirus software.
