How to Fix Android Phone Ringing But No Call
Android phones are widely used, and with that comes a variety of technical issues, one being the problem where a phone rings or vibrates as if you are receiving a call, but there is no incoming call displayed. This can be confusing and frustrating. The issue might stem from a software glitch or a hardware malfunction. Here are steps you can follow to troubleshoot and fix this issue:
Restart Your Phone
The first step is always to restart your phone. This can often clear out any minor glitches or software bugs that are causing issues.
Check for Updates
Make sure your Android OS is up to date, as well as your apps. Software updates often fix bugs and other issues.
Clear Cache and Data of the Phone App
1. Go to Settings > Apps & notifications > See all apps.
2. Scroll down and tap on the Phone app.
3. Tap on Storage & cache.
4. Tap on Clear cache and then Clear storage.
Check Do Not Disturb Settings
Accidentally enabling Do Not Disturb (DND) mode may cause calls not to appear while the phone still rings.
Check for Blocked Numbers
Ensure that you haven’t accidentally blocked the number that appears to be calling.
Boot into Safe Mode
This allows you to see if third-party apps are causing the issue:
1. Press and hold the Power button until the power off icon appears.
2. Press and hold the power off icon until the safe mode prompt appears.
3. Select OK to boot into Safe Mode.
Remove Recently Downloaded Apps
If this started after downloading new apps, consider uninstalling them to see if that’s what’s causing the problem.
Reset App Preferences
Go to Settings > System > Reset options > Reset app preferences.
Factory Reset
As a last resort, back up your data and perform a factory reset from the settings menu—this will erase all data on your phone, so be sure it’s backed up first.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be time to contact your phone manufacturer or service provider for further assistance or to explore repair options, as it could point toward a hardware fault.
