How to Fix an Xbox Series X or S Controller That Won’t Turn On
As an Xbox Series X or S owner, there’s nothing more frustrating than trying to turn on your controller only to find out it won’t turn on. Here are some tips to help you fix your Xbox Series X or S controller that won’t turn on:
1. Check the battery level
The first thing you should do is check the battery level of your controller. To do this, press the Xbox button on your controller. If the battery level is low, you’ll see a warning pop-up on your screen. If this is the case, replace the batteries or charge your controller.
2. Reset your controller
If the battery is not the problem, try resetting your controller. To do this, turn off your controller, and then hold down the Share and the Xbox buttons at the same time until the controller vibrates. This will reset your controller and should fix any issues.
3. Check the Xbox Console Companion App
If resetting your controller didn’t work, check the Xbox Console Companion App to see if your controller is connected. If not, try connecting it via Bluetooth. First, turn on your Xbox Series X or S, navigate to Settings, and click Devices & accessories. From there, select Add Bluetooth devices, turn on your controller, and press the pairing button located at the top of your controller. Your controller should now be connected.
4. Update your controller’s firmware
If your controller still won’t turn on, it’s possible that your controller’s firmware needs updating. To do this, connect your controller to your Xbox console using a USB cable. Then, navigate to Settings, click Devices & accessories, select your controller, and click Device info. If an update is available, you’ll be prompted to download and install it.
Hopefully, one of these steps helped you fix your Xbox Series X or S controller that won’t turn on. If your controller still isn’t working, it may be time to contact Xbox support for further assistance.
