How to Find Your Email Settings in Windows Registry
Email settings are an important part of any email client. If you have recently switched to a new computer or email client, you may need to find your email settings to set up your account. In some cases, your email settings may be stored in the Windows Registry. Here’s how to find your email settings in the Windows Registry:
Step 1: Open the Windows Registry Editor
To open the Windows Registry Editor, press the “Windows” key and “R” key at the same time to open the “Run” dialog box. Type “regedit” into the box and press “Enter” to open the Registry Editor.
Step 2: Navigate to the Email Settings
Once you have opened the Registry Editor, navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\xx.0\Outlook\Profiles\Outlook\. Replace xx.0 with the version of Microsoft Office you are using. For example, if you are using Microsoft Office 2016, the registry key would be HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Profiles\Outlook\.
Step 3: Export the Email Settings
With the Outlook key selected, right-click on the right-hand pane and select “Export”. Choose a location to save the file and give it a name. This will create a backup of your email settings that you can import into a new email client or computer.
Step 4: View the Email Settings
To view your email settings, open the exported file with a text editor such as Notepad or WordPad. The file will contain your email account information, including the server settings, email address, and account type.
By following these steps, you can easily find your email settings in the Windows Registry and create a backup of your email account information. This can be useful when setting up a new email client or computer, or when troubleshooting email issues on your current computer.
