How to Draw WALL-E: 7 Steps
Step 1: Sketch the Basic Shape
To begin drawing WALL-E, start by lightly sketching the basic shape of his body, which is a box-like structure. You can use a ruler to maintain the proportions, or you can freehand it if you’re more comfortable. The goal is to create a simple foundation for adding details later on.
Step 2: Add WALL-E’s Faceplate
Once you’ve got the basic shape of his body, add WALL-E’s faceplate. It’s a rectangular shape situated towards the top half of his body with rounded edges. Draw two vertical lines on both sides of the faceplate to make it look like it’s protruding from the body.
Step 3: Draw the Eyes
WALL-E’s eyes are among his most expressive features. To draw them, first sketch two cylindrical shapes on either side of the faceplate, parallel to each other. Then, add two smaller circles atop each cylinder and add a circle within them for pupils. These will be WALL-E’s “eyes” that convey emotion.
Step 4: Create WALL-E’s Arms
Next, draw two lines extending outwards from either side of WALL-E’s body for his arms. At the end of each line, draw a rectangle that will serve as his hands or claws. To give them more character, add three fingers extending from each rectangle in various poses.
Step 5: Add the Treads
WALL-E wouldn’t be complete without his signature treads! To create these, draw two additional boxes on either side of his body that extend slightly below it. Then, inside each box, draw parallel horizontal lines at equal intervals to mimic the treads’ pattern.
Step 6: Incorporate Details
Now that you’ve got the basic structure down, it’s time to add details to make your drawing come alive. Accentuate WALL-E’s face with additional lines and shadows to give it depth. Add various panels, rivets, and designs on his body to create a lifelike texture.
Step 7: Fine-tune and Color
Finally, go back through your drawing and erase any unnecessary lines or shapes. Once you’re satisfied with the results, you can add color using colored pencils, markers, or any other medium of your choice. Use reference images of WALL-E to make sure you’re capturing his signature color scheme.
And that’s it! In just seven simple steps, you’ve drawn an impressive rendition of WALL-E. With practice and patience, your skills will only improve. Happy drawing!
