How to Do a Hanging Indent on Google Slides
Google Slides is a great productivity tool that offers a lot of features that allows us to create effective presentations. We can add images, graphics, and text boxes with ease, but sometimes we need to add lists to our presentations, and that’s where hanging indents become an essential tool. A hanging indent is a formatting style that indents the second, third, and subsequent lines of a paragraph but leaves the first line flush left. This type of formatting helps to make our presentations more visually appealing and easy to read. In this article, we will show you how to do a hanging indent on Google Slides.
Step 1: Open Your Google Slides Presentation
First, you need to open your Google Slides presentation by going to your Google Drive account and click on the Slides icon. You can also search for Slides on your Google search bar.
Step 2: Create a Text Box and Add Your List
Now, create the Text Box where you will add your list or content that you want to indent. To do this, click on the Text Box icon on your toolbar, and click and drag on your slide where you want to add the Text Box.
Type in the list, and you can use numbers, bullets, or no markers at all. You can also change the font, size, color and add bold, underline or italic formatting.
Step 3: Highlight the Text You Want to Indent
Next, highlight the text that you want to indent. Click and drag your mouse over the text, or you can use the keyboard shortcut “Ctrl+A” to select all the text in the Text Box.
Step 4: Click on the “Increase indent” Button
With the text highlighted, click on the “Increase indent” button located on your toolbar. This button has an icon that shows the right arrow pointing to a rectangle. You can find it in the toolbar or by right-clicking on your text and selecting “Paragraph styles” then “Increase indent.”
Step 5: Adjust the Indentation
After clicking the “Increase indent” button, you will notice that the first line has not indented, but the other lines have done so. If you want to adjust the indentation, click on the “Decrease indent” button to reduce it or click “Increase indent” if you want to move it to the right.
Step 6: Save and Present
Finally, save your presentation, and you can now present your hanging indents. You can also edit your slides anytime you want and make changes to the indentation or text box.
