How to Do a Block Quote in Google Docs
When writing an essay or other type of academic paper in Google Docs, you may need to use a block quote to quote a lengthy passage from a source. A block quote is a quote that is longer than four lines of text and is indented from the left margin. Here’s how to do a block quote in Google Docs.
Step 1: Highlight the text you want to quote
To select the text you want to quote, click and drag your cursor over the text. If the text is longer than what can fit in the visible area, you can click and drag the scroll bar to select the entire passage.
Step 2: Insert a Quote
Next, you’ll need to insert a quote. To do this, go to the “Insert” menu and select “Quote”.
Step 3: Format the Quote
