How to Disable Power Nap in macOS
Power Nap is a feature in macOS that allows your Mac to perform certain tasks even while it’s sleeping. This includes tasks like fetching email, updating software, and backing up your data. While Power Nap can be useful, it can also drain your battery faster, especially if your Mac is running on battery power.
If you’re looking to conserve battery life or just want to disable Power Nap for other reasons, here’s how to do it:
1. Click on the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen.
2. Select “System Preferences” from the drop-down menu.
3. Click on “Energy Saver.”
4. Click on the “Battery” tab if you’re using a laptop, or the “Power Adapter” tab if you’re using a desktop.
5. Uncheck the box next to “Enable Power Nap.”
That’s it! Power Nap is now disabled on your Mac. If you ever want to re-enable it, simply go back to the Energy Saver preferences and check the box next to “Enable Power Nap.”
Remember that disabling Power Nap may affect certain features of your Mac, such as automatic updates and backups. If you’re not sure whether or not to disable Power Nap, consider the tradeoff between battery life and convenience.
