How to Cut a Lace Front Wig: 11 Steps
Step 1: Gather Your Materials
Before you begin, ensure you have all the necessary tools and materials. You will need sharp scissors, a wig stand or foam head, T-pins, a fine-tooth comb, and some hair clips.
Step 2: Secure the Wig
Place the lace front wig onto the wig stand or foam head and secure it with T-pins at the hairline.
Step 3: Divide the Hair
Using the fine-tooth comb, part the hair in half from the hairline to the nape. Then divide each half into two sections, one at the front and one at the back. Clip these sections out of your way.
Step 4: Find Your Starting Point
Depending on your preference, choose a starting point on either side of your head. Remember to leave extra lace in front of your hairline; this will be trimmed later.
Step 5: Create Guide Sections
Working from your starting point, create small guide sections about an inch long and cut them to your desired length.
Step 6: Cut Section by Section
Starting with one of your guide sections, swiftly but accurately cut along the section while holding it taut. Repeat this process for each section on both sides of the head.
Step 7: Blend and Layer (Optional)
For a more natural look, you can add layers or blend shorter hair into longer hair using thinning shears.
Step 8: Trim Excess Lace
Once you have achieved your desired cut and style, it’s time to trim any excess lace around the perimeter of the wig. Use sharp scissors to carefully cut close to the hairline without cutting into it.
Step 9: Customize Baby Hairs (Optional)
If desired, trim baby hairs around the hairline to frame your face or create more styling options.
Step 10: Secure the Wig on Your Head
Place the wig onto your head, aligning it with your natural hairline. Use bobby pins or an adhesive to secure the wig in place.
Step 11: Style and Enjoy!
Now that your lace front wig is cut and customized, you can style it as desired and enjoy your new look!
