How to Customize an iPhone’s Home Screen
Customizing an iPhone’s home screen can give it a new lease of life and make it feel more personalized to you. With the introduction of iOS 14, Apple has given users more control over their home screen layout, allowing them to add widgets, change app icons, and create custom app icons.
Here’s how to customize your iPhone’s home screen:
Choose your wallpaper: Start by selecting a wallpaper that you love. You can choose one from the default options or download a new one. Choose something that suits your style and personality and will make you happy every time you look at your phone.
Add widgets: iOS 14 allows you to add widgets to your home screen. Widgets are small snippets of information that give you quick access to important information. To add a widget, go to the home screen and long-press on an empty space. Tap the plus (+) icon in the top-left corner, and browse through the available widgets. Select the widget you want to add and place it on your home screen. You can resize the widget by long-pressing on it and selecting “Edit Widget.”
Customize app icons: With the introduction of iOS 14, you can now customize app icons on your home screen. You can use pre-made icons available on websites like Iconscout or create your own. To customize an app icon, long-press on the app you want to customize and select “Edit Home Screen.” Tap the app icon, and select “Choose Photo.” Select the image you want to use as your icon, and adjust it as necessary. You can also use apps like Shortcuts to create a custom icon.
Create custom app icons: If you want to create custom app icons using Shortcuts, start by opening the app and tapping the plus (+) icon in the top-right corner. Select “Add Action” and search for “Open App.” Select the “Open App” action and choose the app you want to create a custom icon for. Next, tap the three dots in the top-right corner, select “Add to Home Screen,” and choose a name for your shortcut. Tap on the icon to upload an image, and then select “Add” to add the shortcut to your home screen.
Organize your home screen: Arrange your apps in a way that makes sense to you. Group similar apps together or create folders to keep things organized. Long-press on an app and drag it over another app to create a folder. Give your folder a name and drag other apps into it. You can also create multiple pages on your home screen by swiping left or right.
Customizing your iPhone’s home screen is a fun and creative way to make your device unique to you. With iOS 14, you can personalize your home screen in many different ways, including adding widgets, customizing app icons, and creating custom app icons. Have fun with it and make it your own!
