How to Create and Draw Custom Routes With Google Maps
Google Maps has become a vital tool for navigation and planning your trips. It provides detailed directions, estimated time of arrival, and real-time traffic updates. However, what if the route suggested by Google Maps is not the best option for you, or you want to take a different path to avoid traffic or other obstacles? In this case, you can create and draw custom routes with Google Maps. Here’s how you can do it:
Step 1: Open Google Maps
The first step is to open Google Maps on your computer or smartphone. If you are using a computer, go to maps.google.com. If you are using a smartphone, open the Google Maps app.
Step 2: Search for your Starting Point and Destination
Next, enter your starting point (e.g., your home address) and destination (e.g., your workplace, a friend’s house, or a tourist attraction). Google Maps will show you the possible routes between these two points.
Step 3: Add and Edit Waypoints
If you want to add waypoints or stops along the way, click on the three dots on the top left corner of the screen or tap on the menu button on your smartphone, and choose “Add stop.” You can add as many stops as you want, and you can drag them around to change the order. This is useful if you need to make multiple stops on your way or want to take a different route.
Step 4: Create Your Custom Route
To create your custom route, simply click on the existing route with your mouse or tap and hold on your smartphone, and drag it to a different road or street that you want to take. You can add as many waypoints as you like, and the route will update accordingly. You can also add extra stops along the custom route by repeating Step 3.
Step 5: Save and Share Your Custom Route
Once you have created your custom route, you can save it for future use or share it with your friends or family. To save the route, click on the “Save” button at the bottom of the screen, and give it a name. This way, you can access it later from “Your places” on Google Maps. To share the route, click on the “Share” button, and choose the method of sharing, whether it be through social media, email, or a messaging app.
