How to Create a Timeline in Google Slides
Creating a timeline in Google Slides is a great way to visually depict events or projects chronologically. Here are the steps to create a timeline in Google Slides:
Step 1: Open a new Google Slides presentation or select an existing one.
Step 2: Click on the Insert dropdown menu and select “Drawing”.
Step 3: In the pop-up window, click on the “New” button.
Step 4: In the drawing canvas, click on the “Shape” tool and select the horizontal line.
Step 5: Draw a line in the canvas to the desired length and thickness.
Step 6: On the right side of the drawing canvas, click on the “Text Box” tool and draw a box below the horizontal line. This will serve as the timeline labels.
Step 7: Add your desired timeline labels in descending order from left to right, starting with the earliest date first.
Step 8: Click on the “Shape” tool again and select the “Arrow” shape.
Step 9: Draw an arrow at the beginning of the horizontal line, pointing to the earliest date on the timeline.
Step 10: Click on the “Arrow” shape again and draw another arrow at the end of the horizontal line, pointing to the most recent date on the timeline.
Step 11: Click on the “Text Box” tool once more and draw another box below the horizontal line. This will serve as the event labels.
Step 12: Add your desired event labels in chronological order beneath their respective timeline dates.
Step 13: Once all labels and arrows are in place, save and exit the drawing canvas.
Step 14: Click on the “Slide” dropdown menu and select “Change background”.
Step 15: Click on the “Choose image” button and select an appropriate image to serve as the background for the timeline.
Step 16: Resize and position the drawing canvas in the center of the slide as desired.
Step 17: Add any additional details or visuals to the slide as needed.
