How to Close a Yelp Account
Closing your Yelp account can be an easy process if you know the right steps to follow. Whether you no longer find the service useful or you simply want to minimize your online presence, here’s a simple guide on how to close your Yelp account.
1. Log in to your account
Before you can close your Yelp account, you’ll need to log in using your username and password. If you’ve forgotten these, there is a “Forgot password?” option on the login page that will help you recover it.
2. Head over to the Account Closure page
After logging in, visit Yelp’s Account Closure page by entering this URL into your web browser: https://www.yelp.com/support/contact/account_closure/. Alternatively, you can navigate to this page by clicking on “Help” at the bottom of any Yelp page, then selecting “Account Closure” from the list of support topics.
3. Provide a reason for closing your account
Yelp will ask for a reason for closing your account, as they want to understand what led to this decision and how they can improve their platform. Feel free to be honest and provide as much detail as you’re comfortable with.
4. Confirm your request
Click on the “Send Request” button to submit your account closure request. It usually takes Yelp up to 48 hours to process an account closure request, so it might not be removed immediately.
5. Wait for the confirmation email
Keep an eye out for a confirmation email from Yelp indicating that they have received and processed your account closure request. Make sure to check your spam folder in case it ends up there accidentally.
6. Unsubscribe from Yelp emails (optional)
Even after closing your account, it’s possible that you may still receive occasional promotional emails from Yelp. If you’d like to unsubscribe from their mailing list, open any email from them and click on the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of the email.
And that’s it! You’ve now successfully closed your Yelp account. If you wish to return to the platform in the future, keep in mind that you’ll have to create a new account, as closed accounts cannot be reactivated.
