How to Check if Your Nintendo Switch Is Moddable
Nintendo Switch is a popular gaming console that has captured the attention of millions of gamers worldwide. It is a versatile gaming device that can be used in handheld, tabletop, and docked modes. However, if you want to take your gaming experience to the next level, you may be interested in modding your Nintendo Switch. Modding refers to the process of altering the software or hardware of a device to enhance its functionality. In this article, we’ll show you how to check if your Nintendo Switch is moddable.
Step 1: Check the System Version
One of the first steps to check if your Nintendo Switch is moddable is to check the system version. The system version is the firmware or software version of your Nintendo Switch. The modding community develops custom firmware or software that can only be installed on certain system versions. If your Switch has been updated to a more recent system version, it may not be moddable anymore.
To check the system version of your Nintendo Switch, go to System Settings, and then select System. You will see the system version listed at the bottom of the screen. Make a note of this version number since it will be useful later on.
Step 2: Check the Serial Number
The next step is to check the serial number of your Nintendo Switch. The first three characters of the serial number will determine if your Switch is hackable or not. If your Switch’s serial number starts with XAW, it is most likely moddable. However, if your serial number starts with XKJ, XAJ, or XAW4, it is most likely not moddable. You can find the serial number on the back of your Nintendo Switch or in the System Settings menu.
Step 3: Check the Manufacturer
Another way to check if your Nintendo Switch is moddable is by checking the manufacturer. If your Nintendo Switch is manufactured before July 2018, it has a higher chance of being moddable. Nintendo made changes to the hardware and software of the Switch in July 2018, making it more difficult to mod the device.
You can check the manufacture date of your Nintendo Switch by looking at the serial number. The first four digits of the serial number represent the manufacture date. For example, if your serial number starts with XAW7, your Nintendo Switch was manufactured in July 2017.
Step 4: Join Modding Forums or Communities
If you are still unsure if your Nintendo Switch is moddable, you can join modding forums or communities. These online communities are made up of gamers who are knowledgeable about modding and can provide helpful advice and guidance. They can also recommend which modding tools or software to use for your Nintendo Switch.
