How to Change Your Steam Display Name
As someone who uses Steam regularly, changing your display name can be a great way to keep your gaming profile fresh and more personalized. Changing your display name is a simple process and can be done in a few easy steps.
Firstly, open the Steam application and log in to your account. Once logged in, navigate to the top right-hand corner of the screen and click on your account name. This will prompt a drop-down menu with several different options, select the “Profile” option.
From the profile page, you will notice a section that displays your current display name, underneath it will show an “Edit Profile” button which you must click on.
You will now be presented with the option to change your display name. Simply delete the current name and type in the new name you wish to have associated with your Steam account.
As you type, keep in mind that your new display name must meet a few qualifications. Firstly, the name must be between 3 and 32 characters in length, without any special characters or symbols. Secondly, the name must be unique and not already in use by another Steam user.
Once you have completed entering your new display name, click on the “Save Changes” button, and you’re done. Your new display name will be instantly visible on your Steam account for all to see.
It is important to note that Steam only allows users to change their display name once every two weeks, so make sure you are happy with your new name before committing to the change.
Lastly, Steam also allows users to change their profile picture to further personalize their account. To do this, simply click on the “Edit Profile” button once again, and then click on the “Change Avatar” option. Here you can select an image from your computer or choose from Steam’s pre-set selection of avatars.
