How to Change Your Password in Windows
As cybersecurity threats continue to evolve, it is essential to have a strong and unique password for your Windows account. Changing your password regularly is another crucial step to protect yourself against the increasing number of cyber attacks. If you are unsure about how to change your password on your Windows account, this guide will walk you through the process step-by-step.
Step 1: Open the Settings app
Click on the Start menu button, which is the Windows icon located in the bottom left of your screen. Then, click on the gear icon to open the Settings app.
Alternatively, you can also open the Settings app by pressing Windows key + I to quickly access it.
Step 2: Select Accounts
Once you are in the Settings app, click on the “Accounts” option.
Step 3: Click on Sign-in options
On the left-hand side of the Accounts window, click on the “Sign-in options” tab.
Step 4: Click on Change under Password
Under the “Password” section, click on “Change.”
Step 5: Verify your current password
To ensure it is you making the changes, a window will appear asking you to enter your current password. Type in your current password and click “Next.”
Note: If you have previously set up a PIN, you can use that instead of your password to verify that it is you.
Step 6: Create a new password
Next, you will need to create a new password. Make sure your password is at least eight characters long and is a combination of upper and lower case letters, numbers, and symbols to make it strong.
Step 7: Confirm your new password
Enter your new password again to confirm that you have typed it correctly.
Step 8: Click on Submit
Once you have finished creating your new password, click on “Submit” to save the changes.
Congratulations! You have successfully changed your Windows password. Remember, you should change your password every few months to ensure your account is secure. A strong password can prevent hackers from accessing your personal data, keeping you safe from cyber threats.
