How to Change Your Mouse Cursor in Windows
Changing the mouse cursor in Windows can help personalize and improve your computing experience. Whether you require a larger cursor for better visibility or simply want to customize its appearance, the process is straightforward. Follow these steps to change your mouse cursor in Windows.
1.Access Mouse Settings: Navigate to your Windows Start menu and click on the “Settings” gear icon. Alternatively, you can press the Windows key + I on your keyboard to open the Settings directly.
2.Select Devices: Once in the Settings window, locate and select “Devices.”
3.Go to Mouse & Touchpad: In the Devices menu, find and click on the “Mouse & Touchpad” option from the list on the left-hand side. Then, select “Additional mouse options” at the bottom of the screen.
4.Open Mouse Properties: A new window titled “Mouse Properties” will open up. Here, switch to the “Pointers” tab which allows you to change how your cursor looks.
5.Choose a Cursor Scheme: Within the Pointers tab, you’ll find a section called “Scheme.” Clicking on this will display a drop-down menu with various pre-installed cursor schemes that you can choose from.
6.Preview Cursors: As you click on different schemes, you’ll see a preview of what each cursor looks like for different actions such as normal selection, text selection, working in background, etc.
7.Customize Individual Cursors: If you don’t want to use a pre-set scheme and prefer customizing individual cursors, select each cursor role (like Normal Select or Help Select) and click on “Browse” to choose a custom cursor file (.cur or .ani) that you’ve downloaded or created.
8.Save Your Selections: After finding a desired cursor or scheme that suits your fancy, click ‘Apply’ and then ‘OK’ to save your changes.
9.Install Third-Party Cursors: For even more options, there are numerous websites where you can download additional cursor designs which can be installed using the same process mentioned above.
10.Adjust Pointer Size and Color: If changing the shape isn’t enough, you can also alter the size and color of your pointer for better visibility in high contrast situations by going back into Settings > Ease of Access > Cursor & Pointer.
Remember that if at any point you want to revert back to the default settings, simply return to Cursor properties and choose “Use Default.”
By following these steps, you can successfully customize your mouse cursor to better suit your needs or styles in Windows.
