How to Change the Notification Sound on Windows
Changing the default notification sound on your Windows computer is a simple process that allows you to customize the way you get alerted. To change the notification sound, follow these steps:
1.Click on the Start menu and open Settings by clicking on the gear icon.
2.In the Settings window, click on ‘System’ to open system-related settings.
3.From the sidebar, select ‘Sound’.
4.Scroll down to the ‘Advanced sound options’ section and click on ‘App volume and device preferences’.
5.At the bottom of this window, under ‘Related Settings’, click on ‘Sound Control Panel’.
6.This will open a new window. In this Sound Control Panel window, go to the ‘Sounds’ tab.
7.Under ‘Program Events’, you’ll see a list of different events that can have sounds associated with them. Scroll through and select an event for which you want to change the notification sound.
8.Once an event has been selected, you will notice a dropdown menu just below labeled ‘Sounds’. Click this to choose from a list of available sounds.
9.If you want to use your own sound file, click on ‘Browse’ and navigate to where your custom sound file is stored (ensure it is in .wav format), then select it and click Open.
10.You can test each sound by selecting it from the list and then clicking ‘Test’.
11.After selecting or uploading and testing your preferred notification sound, click ‘Apply’, and then ‘OK’ to save your settings.
With these steps completed, Windows will play your selected or uploaded custom sound as the notification alert for the events you’ve chosen.
