How to Change the Default Font in Windows 10
The default font in Windows 10 is Segoe UI. While this font may be suitable for some users, others may prefer a different font style. Fortunately, changing the default font in Windows 10 is a relatively simple process.
There are several ways to change the default font in Windows 10, but the most effective method is to use the Windows Registry Editor.
Before proceeding, it is important to make a backup of the registry in case something goes wrong. To do this, launch the Registry Editor by pressing the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box, type “regedit” and press Enter. Once in the Registry Editor, click on File > Export and choose a location to save the backup.
With the backup complete, follow these steps to change the default font in Windows 10:
Step 1: Launch the Registry Editor
Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box, type “regedit” and press Enter.
Step 2: Navigate to the Fonts key
In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts
Step 3: Create a backup of the Fonts key
Right-click on the Fonts key and select Export. Choose a location to save the backup.
Step 4: Change the font name
In the right-hand pane of the Fonts key, locate “Segoe UI (TrueType)” and double-click on it to edit the string value. Replace “Segoe UI” with the name of the font you want to use as the default font. Make sure the font is installed on your system.
Step 5: Change the font file name
In the right-hand pane of the Fonts key, locate “Segoe UI (TrueType)” and double-click on it to edit the string value. Replace “segoeui.ttf” with the filename of the font you want to use as the default font. Make sure the font file is located in the Windows\Fonts directory.
Step 6: Save and exit the Registry Editor
Once you have made the desired changes to the Fonts key, click on File > Exit to close the Registry Editor.
Step 7: Restart your computer
Restart your computer to apply the changes.
After restarting your computer, the default font in Windows 10 should be the one you specified in the Registry Editor.
