How to Change or Reset Slack Password if You Forgot It
If you’ve forgotten your Slack password and need to change or reset it, don’t worry—it’s a straightforward process. Here’s how you can get back into your Slack workspace without too much trouble.
Step 1: Go to Your Slack Workspace Login Page
Firstly, navigate to your Slack workspace’s URL. It usually looks something like “yourworkspace.slack.com”. Once there, click on the ‘Sign in’ link if you’re not already at the login prompt.
Step 2: Click on “Forgot Password?”
Beneath the sign-in fields, there’s a helpful link labeled ‘Forgot your password?’. Click this link to initiate the password reset process.
Step 3: Enter Your Email Address
You’ll be prompted to enter the email address associated with your Slack account. Make sure to enter the correct email and then click the ‘Reset my password’ button.
Step 4: Check Your Email Inbox
Slack will send you an email with a password reset link. Go to your email inbox, open the email from Slack, and click on the ‘Reset password’ button or link provided within it.
Step 5: Create a New Password
After clicking on the reset link, you’ll be taken to a page where you can set up a new password. Choose a strong and memorable password for your account security. It is recommended that it includes a mix of letters, numbers, and special characters.
Step 6: Confirm Your New Password
Enter your desired new password and confirm it in the provided fields. Be certain to double-check for accuracy before saving the changes.
Step 7: Log in With Your New Password
With your new password now set up, you can return to the login page for your workspace and log in using your email and new password. You should now have access to your Slack account once again.
If for some reason these steps do not resolve your issue or if you encounter any errors during the process (such as not receiving the reset email), reach out directly to Slack support for further assistance.
Remembering or managing passwords doesn’t have to be a headache—consider using a trusted password manager or enable two-factor authentication (2FA) where possible for additional security. Always keep your recovery information up-to-date so that these processes run smoothly when needed.
