How to Cancel a Venmo Payment
Venmo is one of the most convenient and popular mobile payment apps used globally for sending and receiving money. It has made paying friends and bills simpler and easier than ever. In certain circumstances, however, users may need to cancel a Venmo payment. Although it is not always possible to cancel a transaction, there are steps you can take to try to halt or reverse a transfer.
Here is a step-by-step guide to help you cancel a Venmo payment:
1. Open your Venmo app.
2. Select the payment that you want to cancel.
3. Look for the transaction information page.
4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on ‘cancel payment.’
5. If you are unable to cancel the payment, you can request a refund from the user who received the payment.
6. If the recipient approves the refund request, you will receive the money within 3-5 business days.
7. If the recipient refuses or does not respond to your refund request, there is nothing you can do but request them to return the money.
8. If the transaction was made to the wrong person or business, you can request a refund with the incorrect recipient. Or contact Venmo support.
9. If you accidentally added extra money to your Venmo account, you can transfer the balance back to your bank account to retrieve the money that you do not wish to send.
10. Users have 24 hours to cancel a transaction before it is processed. Once the transaction is complete, it cannot be canceled. Hence, it is crucial to be cautious when sending money through Venmo.
