How to Add Email Aliases to Gmail
Gmail is a powerful email service that is used by millions of people every day. One of the great things about Gmail is its ability to create and use email aliases. Email aliases are alternative email addresses that can be used in place of your primary email address. They can be created for a variety of reasons, such as hiding your primary email address from spammers or creating a more professional image.
Here’s how to add email aliases to your Gmail account:
- Open Gmail
First, open your Gmail account. You can do this by visiting Gmail.com and entering your login credentials.
- Go to Settings
Once you’re logged in, click on the gear icon in the top right corner of your inbox. From there, select “Settings” from the dropdown menu.
- Choose “Accounts and Import”
In the “Settings” menu, choose the “Accounts and Import” tab.
- Click on “Add another email address”
Under the “Send mail as” section, click on the “Add another email address” link.
- Enter your alias email address
Enter the email address you want to use as your alias in the popup window. You can choose any email address that you own and have access to.
- Choose whether to “Treat as an alias”
Select the option to “Treat as an alias” if you want the email to come from the alias and be labeled as such. This is the best option if you want to keep your primary email address private.
- Verify your email address
Click the “Next Step” button. Gmail will send a verification email to your alias email address. Go to the other email account and check for the verification email. Click the link in the email to verify the email address.
- Confirm your Settings
Once you have verified your alias email address, you can go back to your Gmail account and confirm your settings. You can choose to make your alias email address the default account or keep your primary email as the default. You can also set a different signature for your alias emails.
Once you have set up your email alias, you can use it to send and receive emails just like any other email address. However, the emails sent to your alias email will be forwarded to your primary account.
