How to Add a Printer to a Chromebook
As a Chromebook user, adding a printer can seem like a daunting task. But fear not, it’s actually quite simple. In this article, we’ll walk you through the steps on how to add a printer to a Chromebook.
Step 1: Check if Your Printer is Compatible with Chromebook
Before you start, check if your printer is compatible with Chromebook. Google maintains a list of supported printers, which you can find on their website. If your printer is listed, you’re good to go. If not, you may need to use a third-party app to connect your printer to your Chromebook.
Step 2: Connect Your Printer to the Internet
Make sure your printer is connected to the internet, either through Wi-Fi or Ethernet. This is necessary for your Chromebook to recognize the printer.
Step 3: Turn on Your Printer
Turn on your printer and make sure there are no error messages displayed on the printer’s screen.
Step 4: Open Chromebook Settings
On your Chromebook, click on the time in the bottom-right corner and select “Settings” from the pop-up menu.
Step 5: Click on “Advanced”
Scroll down to the bottom of the Settings window and click on “Advanced.”
Step 6: Click on “Printing”
Under the “Printing” section, click on “Printers.”
Step 7: Add a Printer
Click on “Add Printer” to start the process of adding your printer to your Chromebook.
Step 8: Choose Your Printer
Your Chromebook will automatically start searching for printers on your network. Once your printer is discovered, select it from the list.
Step 9: Install the Printer Driver
If your printer requires a driver to function, Chromebook will download and install it automatically.
Step 10: Test Your Printer
Once you’ve installed the printer driver, print a test page to ensure that everything is working properly. If the test page prints correctly, you’re all set.
