Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

Before you get started, gather all the necessary supplies. You will need a shoe cream, brushes, a cloth or sponge, and some newspaper or plastic to protect your work surface.

Step 2: Clean Your Shoes

Ensure your shoes are clean and dry. Use a brush to remove any dirt or grime from the surface of the shoe, paying special attention to the seams and creases.

Step 3: Choose the Right Shoe Cream

Select a shoe cream that matches the color of your shoes as closely as possible. If you can’t find an exact match, opt for a neutral cream which will effectively nourish and condition the leather without altering the color.

Step 4: Test the Shoe Cream

Before applying the cream to your entire shoe, test it on an inconspicuous area, like the inside of the heel or tongue, to make sure it doesn’t cause any damage or discoloration.

Step 5: Apply Shoe Cream

Using a cloth or sponge, apply a small amount of shoe cream on the entire surface of your shoe in circular motions. Be sure to use less cream in areas that are more prone to creasing, such as around the toes and ankle.

Step 6: Work It In

Gently massage the cream into the leather with your fingers or a soft brush. Be patient – it may take a few minutes for the cream to fully absorb into the leather.

Step 7: Let It Dry

Allow your shoes to dry for at least 15 minutes before moving on to the next step. This will give ample time for the cream to soak into your shoes’ leather and work its magic.

Step 8: Buff Your Shoes

Using a clean cloth or soft brush, gently buff your shoes until they shine. Circular motions work best for achieving an even polish.

Step 9: Remove Excess Cream

If any excess cream remains on your shoes, use a clean cloth to carefully remove it. Be sure to get in between seams and creases.

Step 10: Repeat If Necessary

Depending on the condition of your shoes or your desired level of shine, you may want to repeat steps 5 through 9 one or two more times.

Step 11: Clean Your Brushes

Once you’re satisfied with the appearance of your shoes, remember to clean your brushes. Soap and warm water should do the trick.

Step 12: Store Your Supplies

Store your supplies in a cool, dry place, where they will be ready for your next shoe polishing session.

Now that you’ve successfully used shoe cream and polished your leather shoes, it’s time to wear them with pride and show off their renewed luster!
