If you’re new to the game or looking for an easy way to teach new players, look no further. Here’s a quick guide on how to play Sushi Go!
Setting Up the Game:
1. Shuffle the deck: Start by shuffling the deck of Sushi Go cards.
2. Deal cards: Depending on the number of players, deal out a specific number of cards as follows:
– 2 players: 10 cards each
– 3 players: 9 cards each
– 4 players: 8 cards each
– 5 players: 7 cards each
3. Create a draw pile: Place the remaining cards face-down in a draw pile.
The Basic Gameplay:
1. Select a card: Each player simultaneously chooses one card from their hand to play.
2. Reveal your card: Once all players have made their selections, reveal your chosen card by placing it face-up in front of you.
3. Pass your hand: Pass your remaining hand (the cards you didn’t play) to the player on your left. You will receive a hand from the player on your right.
4. Repeat steps 1-3 until there are no more cards in hand.
Scoring Points:
In Sushi Go, various sushi-themed cards have unique ways of scoring points:
1. Nigiri Cards: These score points based on their printed value (1, 2, or 3).
2. Maki Rolls: The player(s) with the most Maki Roll icons score points (6 points for the most, and 3 for second-most).
3. Sashimi: Collect three Sashimi cards to score 10 points (incomplete sets score 0 points).
4. Tempura: Collect two Tempura cards to score 5 points (incomplete sets score 0 points).
5. Dumplings: These cards increase in value with more Dumplings collected (1 card = 1 point, 2 cards = 3 points, etc.).
6. Wasabi: This card triples the value of the next Nigiri card you play.
7. Chopsticks/Spoon: Allows you to play two cards in a single turn but must be passed on to another player afterward.
End of Round and Game:
1. Calculate points: At the end of each round, calculate your score based on your collected cards.
2. Prepare for the next round: Gather all played cards, shuffle them, and redeal according to the setup instructions.
3. Play three rounds: The game comprises three rounds in total, after which you tally up your cumulative scores.
4. Declare a winner: The player with the highest overall score wins the game!
Now that you’re familiar with the basics of Sushi Go, gather friends or family members and enjoy this charming game full of delicious decisions and strategic sushi-selection. Good luck!
