Connected to Wi-Fi, but No Internet Access in Windows? What to Do
If you are connected to Wi-Fi but are unable to access the internet on your Windows device, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue. Follow the steps below to get your internet connection up and running again.
1. Check your Wi-Fi signal strength
If your Wi-Fi signal is weak, it might cause connectivity issues. Make sure that you are within range of the Wi-Fi router and that there are no obstacles between your device and the router that might interfere with the signal. You can also try moving closer to the router to see if that improves your connection.
2. Restart your device
Sometimes, simply restarting your Windows device can help resolve connectivity issues. To do this, click on the Start button, then click on the Power icon, and select Restart.
3. Restart your router
If restarting your device doesn’t help, try restarting your Wi-Fi router. To do this, unplug the power cord from the router, wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in.
4. Check your network settings
Make sure that your device is set up to connect to the correct Wi-Fi network. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi, and check that the network name matches the name of your router. If the name is different, select the correct network and enter the password if required.
5. Disable and re-enable the Wi-Fi adapter
Sometimes, disabling and re-enabling the Wi-Fi adapter can help resolve connectivity issues. To do this, go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi, select the Wi-Fi network you are connected to, and click on the Disconnect button. Wait a few seconds, then click on the Connect button to reconnect to the network.
6. Update your device drivers
Outdated or corrupted device drivers can cause connectivity issues. To update your device drivers, go to Device Manager, find the Wi-Fi adapter, right-click on it, and select Update driver.
7. Reset network settings
If none of the above steps work, try resetting your network settings. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status, and click on Network reset. This will reset all your network settings to their default values, and you will need to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network and enter the password again.
