A Simple Trick for Cleaning Under Your Keyboard’s Keys
If you’re anything like me, you frequently snack while working on your computer, and crumbs seem to magically find their way under your keyboard’s keys. It’s not only unappealing, but it can also make typing a frustrating experience. The good news is that there’s a simple trick for cleaning under your keyboard’s keys.
You’ll need a few items for this task, including a small screwdriver, a cotton swab, and some rubbing alcohol. Begin by unplugging your keyboard from your computer, and turn it upside down to remove any loose debris like crumbs, dust or hair.
Next, take the small screwdriver and gently pry up the key you want to clean. Be careful not to push on the key too hard, as you don’t want to damage the mechanism that makes it work. Once the key is up, hold it carefully between your fingers before using the cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol to clean the underneath side of the keycap.
Continue to clean the keyboard, repeating the process as necessary until you’ve cleaned under all the keys. For any stubborn gunk, you could try using compressed air which will blast the dirt out from under the keys.
Another useful tip is to use a keyboard cover to prevent debris and dust from getting under the keys in future. These covers are inexpensive and will keep your keyboard clean for longer, making future clean-up tasks a breeze.
