Zhang Lu To Head Busan Film Festival’s Academy – Global Bulletin
The Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), one of the most prominent film festivals in Asia, has announced the appointment of acclaimed Chinese director Zhang Lu as the new head of its Academy.
Zhang Lu, a renowned filmmaker and professor, has been recognized for his unique storytelling style, which often explores the complexities of human relationships and the human condition. With a career spanning over two decades, he has directed numerous critically acclaimed films, including “The City of No Animals,” “Truly Human,” and “Miss Baek.”
As the new head of the Busan Film Festival’s Academy, Zhang Lu will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of the festival’s educational programs, workshops, and talent labs. The Academy is a key component of the BIFF, aimed at nurturing and showcasing emerging talent from around the world.
In his new role, Zhang Lu will work closely with the BIFF team to develop and curate programs that focus on script development, directing, and production, as well as providing mentorship and networking opportunities for aspiring filmmakers.
