.Choose the right Harley: Begin by selecting the right size and style of Harley Davidson for your needs. Look for comfort, power, and ease of handling.
.Get familiar with controls: Spend time familiarizing yourself with the clutch, throttle, brakes, turn signals, horn, and other controls on your Harley.
.Adjust your mirrors: Before setting off, ensure your rearview mirrors are adjusted properly for optimal visibility.
.Wear protective gear: Always wear appropriate safety gear including a helmet, jacket, gloves, pants or chaps, and boots.
.Mount your bike: Approach your Harley from its left side and swing your right leg over to sit on the motorcycle.
.Apply the brakes: Squeeze the front brake lever with your right hand and depress the rear brake pedal with your right foot while mounting the bike.
.Turn on ignition: Insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to the ‘On’ position.
.Engage the clutch: Pull in the clutch lever using your left hand while simultaneously pressing down on the gearshift lever with your left foot to shift into first gear.
.Start the engine: Press the “Start” switch while keeping your left hand on the clutch lever and right foot on the rear brake.
.Release the clutch gradually: As you slowly release pressure from the clutch lever, gently twist the throttle with your right hand to apply power as you set off.
.Shift gears: At an appropriate speed (usually around 15-20 mph), ease off on throttle pressure while pulling in on clutch and shift up to a higher gear using upward foot motion on gearshift lever.
.Use both brakes: To slow down and stop, apply gradual pressure to both front and rear brakes while downshifting to match the engine speed.
.Keep a safe distance: Practice maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles and anticipating potential hazards ahead.
.Practice, practice, practice: Just like any other skill, riding a Harley Davidson takes time to master. Be patient with yourself and keep practicing until you feel comfortable and confident on your bike.
